To Deviant Art Moderators/Design implementers...... Could you not add a feature whereby a DA member can add a feature of only "Constructive criticism" is allowed with a 3 strikes and you're out policy. That kind of thing is already done elsewhere. I returned now after posting an appreciative post earlier today, and there's all this sniping personal opinion about how the model looks. It's little wonder some people disable comments....so why then should an artist bother posting?! DA your business model will only suffer allowing this kind of unhelpful stuff to continue. This isn't a politcial forum ...its a place where artists kindly provide their content that helps DA's business model.
In short, If you don't like the model's appearance...MOVE on! What's so hard about that? Lots of other stuff to look at. Constructive criticism when nicely worded is one thing...slamming your personal opinion on the table aint' cool. If you want to indulge in pack mentality about what a body should look like go to Xbox Live where you'll get lotsa feedback.
This photo remains in my opinion a superlative capture of youth including its' attendant slenderness to make it more believeable. Great work abclic!
I agree. I can understand when people comment on the pose, the lighting, how the theme is presented, etc, but I don't think it's right to simply say, "I don't like how you look." People have decided that she is unhealthy simply because they can see her ribs even though it's mainly because of the chosen sitting position.
And on top of that many of them chose not to comment on anything positive in the shot (her expressive face, the elegant placing of her hands, the subtle warmth of the lighting, etc). They thought it'd be more beneficial to everyone for them to simply give their general opinion of "skinny" women. Hell, most of them might as well have just came out and said "I need more cushion for the pushing" because all they're speaking on is how they want a woman to look. Funny thing is there's another pic of her in the photographer's gallery and I definitely do not see her as skinny but instead as slender and fit which is also a crime now that the "love your curves" movement has become sensationalized.
And this is coming from a man that does appreciate curves.
At first I was thinkin' "Dang, she needs to eat a bit more cause her ribs are all out" but then I noticed her ab area looks rather firm instead of bony so now I think it's perhaps just the way she's sitting that's exaggerating the ribs a bit. Pretty pic. Careful she doesn't get a splinter in her rear tho O.O
Why do people complain? I think she's pretty and telling by the rest of her body she is perfectly fine. Plus if she wouldn't be proud of her body she sure wouldn't show her body off like that. Any shape and size of a body is okay as long as you are comfortable with it. So why would she need to gain weight if she doesn't want to? I'm rather the thin type as well (my ribs show like that too) and I feel fine. Even if I eat a lot I do not gain weight. It's the same with people who are overweight even if they do not eat a lot. Different bodies just work differently
Many are replying that she needs more weight, but it is possible that this is her healthy form. There is no right or wrong body type and the ribs showing could simply be the way she is sitting. She seems perfectly healthy to me.
I applaud all the wonderful people telling her to eat more. Feed this woman something! Anything! Other than celery sticks. Get this poor little tiny thing a Big Mac and a Pepsi!! Maybe a piece a cheesecake to follow. Having her ribs jutting out like that = unsexy.
